Easy Fresh Peach Milkshake Recipe (Better Than Chick-fil-A!)

Every year when summer rolls around, I get completely obsessed with Chick-fil-A’s peach milkshake. And if you’re here, I’m guessing you’re just as hooked as I am! But waiting all year for it to hit the menu is a struggle, so I made it at home, and honestly, it’s better than the original.

Instead of using peach puree, I use fresh peaches, and with just 3 ingredients and 5 minutes, you get the same sweet, nostalgic summer flavor whenever you want, even when the milkshake is out of season. So, grab your blender and let’s make the dreamiest fresh peach milkshake!

Why You’ll Love This 3-Ingredient Fresh Peach Milkshake

  • Just 3 ingredients: You only need fresh peaches, your favorite vanilla ice cream, and a splash of milk. That’s it! It couldn’t be easier.
  • Way better than fast food: Don’t get me wrong, Chick-fil-A is iconic, but fresh peaches give such a nice, fresh, juicy fruit flavor that will make you feel like it’s healthy.
  • Ready in under 5 minutes: It literally takes longer to wait in the drive-thru line than it does to throw everything into your blender and hit start.
  • Enjoy this year-round: You won’t need to wait for summer to enjoy a delicious peach milkshake! Make it year-round, whenever you’re craving something sweet.

This Recipe vs. Chick-fil-A: What Makes This Recipe Better?

Chick-fil-A’s peach milkshake is an icon, but their version has all these ingredients:

Milkshake base (whole milk, sugar, nonfat milk, milkfat, cream, whey powder, nonfat dry milk, water, natural and artificial flavor, mono and diglycerides, guar gum, carrageenan, brown sugar, cellulose gum, salt, tetrasodium pyrophosphate, corn starch, calcium sulfate, caramel color, beta carotene [color], annatto [color], sodium phosphate), peaches (peaches, sugar, dextrose, water, citric acid, pectin [pectin, sodium diphosphate, calcium orthophosphate], lemon juice concentrate, salt, turmeric extract [propylene glycol, extractives of turmeric], natural flavor, ascorbic acid, annatto), whipped cream (cream, milk, sugar, sorbitol, mono and diglycerides, natural flavor, carrageenan, nitrous oxide [as whipping propellant]), cherry (cherries, water, high fructose corn syrup, corn syrup, sodium benzoate, potassium sorbate, natural and artificial flavor, sulfur dioxide [preservative], FD and C red #40, citric acid, malic acid).

So, a heavily processed milkshake base, corn syrups, artificial flavors, and peaches preserved in thick sugar syrup. Oh, and a single shake packs over 100 grams of sugar!

Luckily, I don’t have all the extra preservatives and artificial dyes at home, and instead can make this with three simple staples you can feel good about blending up.

Ingredients You Need

To make this fresh peach milkshake, you only need three ingredients. Because the list is so short, using high-quality components enhances the flavor!

  • Yellow Peaches: If you can get them homegrown or grab a bundle from your local farmer’s market, those will yield the sweetest, most incredible flavor! Look for peaches that are slightly soft to the touch and super fragrant. I love looking for yellow peaches when they’re in season (they taste the best then).
  • Vanilla Bean Ice Cream: I love using a good vanilla bean ice cream because those little speckled vanilla specks just taste so good. Use your favorite brand (all ice cream is love), but major bonus points if you make your own ice cream from scratch, but honestly, I just buy mine at the store!
  • Milk: Just a splash is needed; too much milk and you lose that thick milkshake consistency. Use a good quality milk; whole milk works best!

How to Make a Peach Milkshake

  1. Peel the Peaches. Score the bottom of each peach with a small “X,” then blanch them in a pot of boiling water for about 30 to 60 seconds until the skin starts to lift away from the flesh. Immediately transfer them to an ice bath until they’re cool to the touch. The skins will slide right off! (Note: Peeling is optional, but it gives you the smoothest consistency without any stray skin bits.)
  2. Slice and Dice. Cut around the peach pit and remove it. Double-check that no hard, woody pieces of the pit are stuck to the fruit. Cut the peaches into about 6 wedges (or finely dice them if your blender isn’t super strong). Set aside a small handful of tiny peach cubes for garnish later!
  3. Puree the Fruit. Add your peach slices to the blender and blend until completely smooth. Pureeing the peach guarantees no unblended chunks. Pour the puree into a jar or glass for storage.
  4. Blend Milkshake. Add the peach puree, vanilla bean ice cream, and milk into a blender and blend on medium speed just until everything comes together into a thick, uniform shake. Be careful not to overblend, which can result in a loose, runny liquid!
  5. Assemble and Serve. Pour your milkshake into a tall glass. Top with whipped cream if you’re feeling fancy, add your saved diced peach, drop in a straw, and enjoy immediately!

Fun Variations & Upgrades

  • Peach Cobbler Milkshake: Toss 2–3 graham crackers (or vanilla wafers) and a generous pinch of cinnamon directly into the blender. Garnish with crushed graham cracker crumbs! It’s an easy way to customize the milkshake base.
  • Peaches & Cream Smoothie (No Ice Cream): Looking for something slightly lighter? Swap the vanilla ice cream for frozen peach slices, a frozen banana, and a splash of coconut milk or full-fat Greek yogurt with some honey.
  • Out-of-Season Hack (Frozen or Canned): If the craving strikes in the middle of winter, don’t worry! Use frozen peach slices for an extra-thick, frosty texture (just add an extra splash of milk to help it blend). If using canned peaches, drain the syrup first, so your shake doesn’t get sickly sweet.
  • Bourbon Peach Shake (Adults Only): Blend in 1 to 1.5 ounces of your favorite bourbon or dark rum for an incredible boozy treat. Just don’t let it out of your sight!

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Can you mix peach and milk without it curdling?

Yes, absolutely! Some fruit acid can sometimes cause fresh milk to curdle, but blending the ingredients emulsifies them. As long as you blend it cold and drink it fresh, you won’t have any issues with curdling.

Do I really need to peel the peaches first?

Peeling is optional, but it’s recommended for a silky smooth texture! If you leave the skins on, tiny flecks of peach skin will remain in the shake. Scoring, blanching, and dunking them in an ice bath make the skins slide off easily!

Can I make this peach milkshake without ice cream?

Definitely! For a lighter or lower-sugar option, swap the vanilla ice cream for frozen peach slices and Greek yogurt with honey for a frozen yogurt alternative.

How can I make this peach milkshake dairy-free or vegan?

It’s super easy to adapt! Swap the vanilla ice cream for your favorite plant-based vanilla ice cream and use an unsweetened dairy-free milk like oat, almond, or soy milk. Top with coconut whipped cream for the full experience!
