What is a Mango Cream Matcha Latte?

A mango cream matcha latte is a matcha latte with a fresh mango cream on top! It’s a creamy version of a mango matcha latte with a creamier texture and flavor, and just as delicious. I like to garnish it with diced mango for a nice presentation, and you can take it to the next level by adding a sprig of mint or thyme.
This is a spin-off of my popular banana cream matcha latte recipe, which got me thinking about other fruit and cream matcha lattes to try!
What Does a Mango Cream Matcha Latte Taste Like?

This mango cream matcha latte tastes like a mango shake with matcha! Since there’s heavy cream, this drink has a creamier texture and a milder mango flavor. It’s so addictive when you sip the drink from the top. You get a sweet, fruity, and creamy mango cream, which is washed down with a savory and umami matcha.
It kind of tastes like an affogato, with mango ice cream and matcha on top. It’s sweet, milky, juicy, earthy, and everything that you could want in a fruity and creamy matcha!
Do Mango and Matcha Go Together?
There’s a reason why mango and matcha are my favorite combination—they go surprisingly well together!
Matcha naturally pairs well with fruits because the earthy, slightly bitter flavor contrasts nicely with bright fruit flavors, like mango, blueberry, strawberry, etc. I love how the mango brings out the more earthy flavors of matcha, and in turn, it makes the mango seem juicier.
Also, mango isn’t as tart as strawberry or blueberry, so it’s smoother on the palate.
How to Make Mango Cream

Homemade mango cream or cold foam is so easy and perfect on any drink, from coffee, tea, or even pancakes. The base of all my creams is heavy cream, and to make flavored cream, just add your flavor of choice, in this case, mango puree.
Add the mango puree and heavy cream to a small cup or bowl, and blend using a handheld frother until it’s fluffy and the fruit is well-incorporated. I like to stop when it’s still soft and pourable, so that it mixes easily into the milk. But you can take it all the way to whipped cream if you want a stiffer top.
For a thinner cream, add 2 tbsp of milk so that it’s more fluffy and loose. This will give you a mango sweet cream cold foam, which isn’t as heavy and thick.
How to Make Mango Puree

Mango puree is one of the best ways to add fruit to any beverage, as it makes it smooth and easy to drink but still retains that fresh fruit flavor. The best way to make puree is to use fresh fruit (it’s softer) and a little water. Blend it in a small blender or food processor until it’s smooth.
You can use frozen mangoes as well, just make sure to thaw them before blending. Canned mango also works, and you can even add a little bit of the syrup from the can to sweeten it. Just note that canned fruit will be much sweeter and less fruit-forward.
How to Whisk Matcha
Now, for the most important part, how to whisk matcha properly!
Whisking matcha is essential for a smooth, green, and tasty matcha latte. It takes a little extra effort, but I promise it’s worth it. You’ll need a small tea sift, matcha powder, water, and a bamboo whisk.
First, sift the matcha powder into a bowl or matcha bowl to get rid of large clumps. Then, add room temperature or hot (not boiling) water. Using the matcha whisk, start whisking in a back-and-forth motion, quickly drawing M or Z shapes in the bowl with the whisk perpendicular to the bottom of the bowl.
Whisk for 20 – 30 seconds or until a foam forms as the top layer. It takes some practice to get it right, so here’s a step-by-step tutorial with video!

Mango Cream Matcha Latte Variations

Mango and matcha are such a delicious combination, and there are other ways to enjoy these flavors besides in cream form! For a refreshing drink, try making the classic mango matcha latte that adds the mango puree directly to the milk. It’s more fruit-forward and less heavy!
For a super refreshing drink, make a sparkling mango matcha soda with sparkling water, mango puree, and a little sweetener! It’s so good and fizzy, perfect for a hot day. You can even make it into a cocktail by adding a shot of your favorite liquor, perhaps a clear one like vodka, soju, or tequila would taste best!
Make it Vegan: For a dairy-free version, swap out the heavy cream for soy, coconut, oat, or vegan heavy cream and the milk for your favorite dairy-free milk. Depending on what you use, it may impart a subtle aftertaste (ie, coconut will make it taste slightly coconutty.)

Easy Mango Cream Matcha Latte: Refreshing and Fast
Ingredients
- ½ cup diced mango
- ¼ cup heavy cream
- 1½ tsp matcha powder
- ¼ cup water
- 1 cup milk
- 1 cup ice
- 2-3 tsp sugar or sweetener
Instructions
- Make Mango Puree: Add mango to a blender and blend for 10 seconds or until smooth with no visible chunks. If the mixture is thick, add a tablespoon of water at a time until it's pourable but not watery.
- Make Mango Cream: Add mango puree, heavy cream, and a little sweetener in a small cup or bowl, and whip for 10 seconds using a handheld frother until soft and fluffy but pourable.
- Whisk Matcha: Sift matcha powder into a bowl, and add water. Whisk in a zigzag motion using a bamboo whisk for 20 – 30 seconds until a foam similar to espresso crema forms. The froth should have small, closely packed bubbles.
- Assemble Drink: Add ice, mango puree, milk, and whisked matcha to a separate glass, then top with mango cream. Garnish with diced mango bits.
- Mix and enjoy!
Tips:
- Create Layers: This is the perfect drink to make layers! Start with ice, then pour the milk into the glass. Pour the whisked matcha directly onto ice and watch it spread out in a nice layer. Then, add the mango cream on top and you’ll have 3 beautiful layers! You can even add extra mango puree as the bottom layer for 4 layers!
- Use Ripe Mangoes: The riper your fruit, the sweeter (and tastier) your drink will be. A ripe mango will also have more of that fruit flavor, which will come through in the latte.
- Use Mango Jam or Syrup: No mangoes? No problem! You can use mango jam or syrup as a replacement for fresh mango; it might taste less fresh and sweeter, but it will still add that mango flavor.
- Blend Mango into Milk: For even more mango flavor, blend mangoes straight into the milk. It will become a mango shake of sorts and have a thicker texture, but add a nice velvety touch to this drink!
