Really Easy Honey Cinnamon Latte

A honey cinnamon latte is so easy, creamy, and delicious. It’s my go-to coffee recipe when I’m tired and can’t be bothered by making a fancy coffee. Honey and cinnamon are so comforting together, especially hot on a cold day.

You only need 4 ingredients and 5 minutes to make a delicious sweet treat that will also give you a caffeine boost. It’s even faster if you have cinnamon honey! You also don’t need a fancy espresso machine to make this either.

Here’s how to make a delicious honey cinnamon latte at home!

What is a Latte?

A latte is an espresso with steamed milk and a thin layer of foam. It’s traditionally hot with two espresso shots, a strong, concentrated coffee extracted under high heat and pressure.

On the other hand, an iced latte is the same ratio of espresso to milk but with cold milk and ice. They’re popular for being creamy and milky while having a great coffee flavor.

All restaurants and cafes have lattes because they are standard coffee beverages; you can have unsweetened, sweetened, and flavored ones.

An iced latte is my go-to beverage at all cafes because you can usually tell the quality of their brews and beans with it! I also love adding a little simple or vanilla syrup for additional sweetness.

How to Make Lattes

To make a latte, you need espresso and milk. That’s it!

But while it sounds simple, making espresso takes a little practice before you can make great espresso, especially if you’re using a manual coffee machine.

With a coffee machine, you need proper technique and practice to pull a smooth, consistent espresso shot (which I only sort of know how to do, haha). If you want a hot latte, another obstacle is learning how to froth milk, which also takes time and practice.

Luckily, you can always use an easier espresso machine or coffee maker like a Nespresso or Keurig that instantly makes it for you. Then, you only need to focus on adding delicious sweeteners or flavors!

Do You Need Espresso?

You don’t necessarily need espresso to make a latte. You can use a Nespresso or similar coffee maker to give you strong, concentrated coffee.

However, you can also make strongly brewed coffee using other methods like a Moka Pot, Aeropress, French Press, etc., which are excellent espresso substitutes for lattes.

You could also use instant espresso powder if you really want convenience and ease. Or, buy espresso shots from your local cafe to use at home. But if you’re already at a cafe, you’ll probably want to get a coffee from them instead.

Are Honey and Cinnamon Good in Coffee?

If there’s anything that screams warmth and comfort, it’s honey and cinnamon. Mixing those two ingredients in milk gives you a delicious, sweet, and creamy treat that anyone can enjoy! Kids and adults can have it before bed or on a cold day.

Cinnamon works great in coffee. It’s a nice, warming spice that complements the bitter flavors in espresso or coffee. Plus, it works well with various sweeteners like maple syrup, brown sugar, and honey.

Now, honey is great in coffee, too! It’s not a conventional sweetener to use, but it complements coffee flavors well! Honey is somewhat floral, fruity, and bright, similar to coffee flavor profiles.

It’s also a very practical and common ingredient in many homes, making it a great coffee option. It’s easier to use than sugar because you can easily dissolve it.

How to Make an Iced Honey Cinnamon Latte

You’ll need these ingredients:

  • Honey
  • Espresso or strong coffee
  • Cinnamon
  • Milk
  • Ice

First, brew 1 to 2 =shots of espresso using a coffee machine. You can tamp the espresso yourself or have the machine use a pod. If you’re grinding your own beans, usually 18g is perfect for a double shot of espresso.

If you don’t have a coffee machine, you can easily use a different brewing method like a Moka Pot or a phin that makes a strong coffee.

Then, mix the honey and cinnamon into the warm coffee. You could alternatively dissolve it into the milk, but you’ll have to dissolve the honey with hot water first. Otherwise, it will take more time to dissolve with cold milk.

Add ice, milk, and coffee into a new cup. Sprinkle some cinnamon on top for an optional garnish, mix, and enjoy!

Make a Hot Honey Cinnamon Latte

If you want your honey cinnamon latte hot, steam or warm up your milk in the microwave instead of using cold milk.

First, brew your coffee and add the honey and cinnamon. Add this to a large latte cup.

With a steam wand, carefully submerge the wand into the milk at a 45-degree angle, then slowly bring the end of the steam wand near the surface of the milk. That’s what will aerate the milk the most and create yummy microfoam.

Once the milk pitcher gets similar or a little hotter than your body temperature, turn it off and remove the steam wand. Make sure to wipe the steam wand after!

Pour your hot milk into your espresso and enjoy! If you know how to do latte art, this is the time to do it!

Budget Friendly Methods

For my espresso machine-less friends, here are some other ways you can make strong coffee that is equivalent to espresso:

  • Use a Moka Pot
  • Use an Aeropress
  • Make Cold Brew Coffee
  • Use Instant Espresso Powder
  • Buy Espresso from a Coffee Shop
  • Use Instant Coffee
  • Buy Premade Cold Brew Coffee
  • Make Pour Over Coffee
  • Use a Phin
  • Make Stovetop Coffee

My personal choice would be a Moka Pot because it gives a very strong brew in a concentrated form. I find that it tastes the most similar to espresso. An Aeropress is also a good option, but the coffee flavor is not as concentrated.

A Nespresso is my choice for convenience and flavor, but I don’t have one, and they can be pricey! A phin is also a good alternative because it also makes very strong coffee, but it can take up to 10 minutes to brew one portion.
