It’s so easy to make, especially if you already have cookie butter. You can also use Biscoff cookies, which are extra tasty and add a little crunch. It takes less than 10 minutes to make a delicious Biscoff cream and Biscoff cookie butter latte that tastes ultra creamy together.

Here’s how to make a Biscoff cookie butter latte at home!

What is Biscoff?

Biscoff, or speculoos, is a Belgian caramelized shortbread cookie created by baker Jan Boone Sr in 1932, who wanted to make an all-natural cookie.

It exploded in popularity for its crunch and caramel flavor, and it became an instant favorite, especially when eaten with coffee. The name itself combines ā€˜biscuit’ and ā€˜coffee,’ hence Biscoff, which was appended to its original name, Lotus.

However, the name for this caramelized cookie is speculoos, another name for these cookies.

What Flavour is Biscoff?

Lotus Biscoff cookies are famous for their unique taste and crunchy texture, which makes it crazy addicting. People find the Biscoff cookie flavor hard to describe, but the predominant flavor is caramel.

However, it’s not a bitter caramel; instead a mild, molasses-y caramel that has a satisfying flavor. From the ingredients list, the cookies are made of wheat, sugar, brown sugar syrup, soy flour, salt, and cinnamon.

However, the cookies don’t have a spicy kick that cinnamon usually provides. Some say it tastes similar to gingerbread but without the heavy spice. But the result is a buttery, sweet, crunchy, slightly gingery caramel cookie that’s something of an enigma.

What is Cookie Butter?

Cookie butter is ground up Biscoff or speculoos cookies with oil and sugar to make a spread. It’s seriously addicting and has all the delicious flavor of a caramel Biscoff cookie with the added, satisfying texture of smooth butter.

It’s similar to Nutella’s texture but with a completely different flavor profile. It’s often put on toast, muffins, bread, or in desserts like cupcakes and ice cream. Cookie butter is also easy to use in drinks or even as flavored milk!

Is Cookie Butter Good in Coffee?

Like its skyrocket to fame, cookie butter is good in coffee. If Biscoff cookies became popular because of their pairing with coffee, you bet it’s also good in coffee. The bitterness of coffee and caramel cookies complement each other, especially with the added sugar.

You can make it into syrup and use it in lattes, coffees, or other desserts and snacks like yogurt bowls, granola, ice cream, etc. It’s probably best added as a syrup since Biscoff cookie butter can be very thick and hard to dissolve.

Or, you can enjoy the cookie and the coffee separately by dunking the cookie into hot coffee and enjoying the satisfying soaked-crunchy texture.

Where to Find Cookie Butter?

You can find cookie butter in any grocery store in the spread aisle. It’s a pretty popular and common spread next to Nutella. There are also various brands for the same popular cookie spread.

The one I’m most familiar with is the Speculoos cookie butter, followed by the Lotus brand. Most big grocery retailers, like Walmart and Target, will also have their own brand of cookie butter.

And for chunky butter fans, you can also get a chunky cookie butter version! There are also keto versions if you’re looking for something sugar-free.

What is Cookie Butter Latte Made Of?

This cookie butter latte contains Lotus Biscoff cookies, espresso, milk, ice, and a Biscoff-flavored cream. Together, you get a super creamy, sweet, cookie butter coffee drink that’s super indulgent and basically a dessert in liquid form.

The cream is optional, but the cookie flavor tastes great and gives the entire drink a creamy texture.

There are also cookie butter-flavored coffee drinks from big cafe chains like Starbucks, Peets, Dunkin’, and Dutch Bros. They all use a cookie-butter flavored syrup, which I’m sure tastes similar to cookie butter.

How to Make Biscoff Syrup?

You can make Biscoff syrup or sauce for coffee drinks in multiple ways.

Method 1: Melt Cookie Butter

Cookie butter by itself is stiff and hard to dissolve in liquid, so to use it easily, melt a little bit in the microwave or use a double-boiler method so that it’s softer to work with. You can also combine it with some hot water to make syrup.

Method 2: Blend Biscoff Cookies with Milk

If you don’t have cookie butter but have the cookies, you can blend the cookies with some water or milk to make cookie butter syrup! You should do this with a food processor to get a smooth texture. However, to make it easier, try soaking the cookies in milk before blending.

Method 3: Make Cookie Butter

You can also make cookie butter traditionally, with cookies, sugar, and oil or butter. Add all ingredients to a food processor until it becomes a smooth paste. Try not to add more oil than you need; otherwise, you’ll get a very loose and less Biscoff-y syrup. Then, you can add a little hot water to it to make it runny.
